Custom Domain

This page allows you to manage the custom domain for your selected site. You can add a new custom domain, update an existing one, or revert to the free subdomain provided by PeakIDX.

View Sites Page and click the Admin dropdown menu (represented by a gear icon) for a site, then select Custom Domain to access this page.

About Custom Domains​

A custom domain is a domain you've purchased from a registrar like GoDaddy, NameCheap, or Google Domains to use instead of the default xyz.peakidxsites.com subdomain.

How to Set Up a Custom Domain​

To use your custom domain, you must update its DNS records to point to the PeakIDX servers. This step is crucial for making your site accessible via your new domain. After the DNS records are correctly set, PeakIDX will automatically issue an SSL certificate for your domain, enabling secure HTTPS access.

Important Considerations​

  • One Domain Per Site: PeakIDX supports only one custom domain per site. Any other domains you own must be forwarded externally.
  • Root Domain Redirection: Due to CDN limitations, PeakIDX automatically redirects all traffic from your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.com) to the www version (e.g., www.yourdomain.com) using a 301 redirect. This behavior is permanent and cannot be changed.
  • Verification and Propagation: Your custom domain's status will show as a green checkmark once the DNS checks and certificate issuance are complete. However, keep in mind that DNS changes can take time to propagate fully across the internet, so your site might not be immediately live for all users. Your PeakIDX site will remain on the old subdomain until DNS verification and secure certificates are successfully issued.

Custom Domain Form​

This form is used to set or change your site's custom domain.

  • Custom Domain (text field): Enter the custom domain you want to use for your site. For example, www.myrealestate.com or myrealestate.com. If you want to remove the custom domain, simply clear this field.
  • Save (button): Click this button to save the changes to your custom domain. The system will then automatically begin the verification and SSL certificate issuance process.
  • Revert (button): This button appears if a custom domain is already set. Clicking it will revert your site's domain to the original free subdomain (e.g., yoursite.peakidxsites.com).

Verification Status Table​

This table displays the real-time status of your custom domain's DNS and SSL certificate verification. The information is updated automatically every 5 seconds.

DNS Records Table​

This table provides the required DNS records for you to configure with your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, NameCheap). You must update these records to point your custom domain to your PeakIDX site.

Purge CDN Cache​

This section provides a button to manually clear the Content Delivery Network (CDN) cache for your site. You might need to do this if you've made recent changes to your site and they are not appearing for your visitors.
